The development project of the Czech Ministry of Education 2009, "Development of University Counselling in the Czech Republic", is implemented in the form of consecutive centralized project which aims at making the university counselling services in the Czech Republic more efficient and creating a network of mutually cooperating university counsellors. The project activities were started in 2008 with eight universities taking part coordinated by The University of Economics (VŠE) in Prague (for more details see Project Partners section). The major project goals in 2008 were: mapping psychodiagnostic methods used in career counselling and exchanging experience with their application; analysis of university counsellors' educational needs and their development; development of the pilot version of the university counselling web portal for students and teachers and other experts engaged in this field; creation of the university counsellor ethic code and support of efficient promotion of university counselling bodies.

The activities for 2009 aim mostly at implementation of training courses for university counsellors, including coaching and supervision seminars. They also include creation of the university career counsellor manual, continuous promotion and dissemination of the university counselling topics as well as individual project outputs (for more details on the activities and outputs see Projects Outputs section).

The form of centralized projects, i.e. mutual cooperation between universities, has many advantages, in particular the valuable exchange of experience inspiring further enhancement of counselling services and stimulating organization of joint activities (more in Activities section) as well as, in some cases, also challenging more active approach in providing counselling services.
